So, What Do You Do?

I sing, play acoustic & electric guitars, keyboards and harmonica with full orchestra backgrounds and also "un-plugged".
Many of these backgrounds I created myself (played and recorded all the parts).

I also take my wireless mike into the audience, with pre-recorded music playing, and sometimes get others to sing with me... ok, very often get others to sing!

In restaurants, nightclubs and resorts where my followers frequent, you'll be likely to hear some guest singers. You may be surprised by some of the talent sitting out there. Some look at this and say "It's karaoke!" No, it's The Bob Mel Show! There are no words on a screen and my singers know the words and songs. I like to think of it more like the old Rat Pack; where Dean had a gig at the Sands and Frank and/or Sammy would just show up and sing with him.
Ah, those were the days!

But, I can't leave out the most important part...
You see, singing well and playing well isn't enough!
Just sounding good isn't enough.

  • It's reading the audience
  • Knowing what to play and do and what to play and do next
  • It's the interaction with the audience
  • It's the thing that you've got to experience for yourself

And I hope you will!

Where have you performed?
From 1994 till 2002 I was the headline entertainer
(until they stopped having entertainment)
at  The Jack O' Lantern Resort in Woodstock, NH.

I've also performed at:

  • The Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, NH,
  • at Foxwoods Resort and Casino,
  • and on Block Island,

in addition to countless Restaurants, Weddings and a variety of other types of Private Parties, Campgrounds, Ships, Senior Centers...

In Summary . . .

Bob had created a successful solo act years before the invention of instruments that give us the sounds of today. When computer technology entered the music world he was able to "fine tune" his act.

The change allows him to have an entire orchestra accompanying him. He uses a wide range of backgrounds and does many songs "unplugged" as well, playing the keyboard or one of his guitars.

Audience participation has always been an important part of each performance!  Bob had individuals singing along, both with him and singing solos, a decade before Karaoke machines!
